China Proposes Green Transition, Mutual Trust For Global Climate Change; UN Appreciates

Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations recently spoke highly of the proposal made by the Chinese President Xi Jinping addressing climate change.

China Proposes Multilateral Consensus For Climate Change

As per the latest reports, the Chinese President proposed a multilateral consensus and focusing on concreter actions and further accelerating the green transition to address the global climate change concerns.

Following this, Guterres has made positive comments on the proposal on Monday regarding the written statement for the World Leaders Summit at the 26th session for the Conference of the Parties (COP26) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Gueterres said that he hoped that the Chinese delegation would play to their full influence at COP26 and strengthen communication and coordination with the other parties and eventually contribute to the success of the COP26.

Reports suggest that they both exchanged in depth views on the issues that would include pragmatic cooperation amongst the parties, promote green transition, enhance mutual truth between South and North and fulfill the pledges of financial support to the developing countries.

Biden Slams China For Not Attending COP26 

US President Joe Biden on Tuesday accused the China’s President of walking away from the aspirations of the globals leaders by skipping the COP26 summit in Glasgow. He said that the China is trying to assert a new role in the world as a world leader and didn’t show up.

He said that it is a gigantic issue and they chose to walk away. He added the same is the case with the Russian President Vladimir Putin as well.

Biden said China not showing up to the summit only makes everyone question their values. Meanwhile, China informed that the President couldn’t attend the meeting in person but they were not allowed to attend the summit via video conferencing either. Following which, they had sent a written statement regarding the matter.
