China: Students Quarantined In School Amidst Covid 19 Outbreak

The Covid cases in China is rising again and with the last few waves in the country, the government is on high alert. Following this, dozens of primary school students were locked in school for hours after a staff member tested positive for Covid 19.

Students Spent The Night In School 

Reports suggest that after the staff member tested positive, everyone in the school was tested. The students were informed to stay inside the school premises until their results were released. A large group parents gathered outside the school on Tuesday night to get updates for their children. However, reportedly no update was given until midnight.

The students are said to be between 7 to 12 years of age. Following the Covid testing for the school students and other staff members, the school principal came out around 11:30 pm and informed the parents that some of the children would have to go into quarantine.

The principal instructed the parents of the quarantined children to get their clothes as they would have spend the night at school and would be released once the results are out.

Currently, it is not clear as to how many children are affected by the news but the local media reported that around 35 students are taken into quarantine. The school is shut, temporarily.

China Reports 600 Cases in 15 Days 

This comes after the Covid 19 cases in China are rising again. On Wednesday, China reported 93 fresh cases of Covid 19. According to the National Health Commission, 11 asymptomatic infections were reported. But they are not added to the national tally. With the latest daily counts, China has crossed over 630 Covid 19 cases from October 17 to November 2.

To curb the cases, the Chinese officials are maintain zero tolerance policy. All the shopping malls, hotels, cinemas, supermarkets and subway stations in Beijing have temperature screening. A personnel has been appointed to ensure that all the health codes are being followed.
