Hyderabad: Civil Liberties Committee, Telangana, today complained that even after the Chief Electoral Officer has given permission to the Telangana Praja Front (TPF) to conduct ‘praja chaitanya yatra’ aimed at creating awareness among the people on the need to think well before voting for the candidate of their choice, the Police were not permitting them to campaign.
Speaking to the media at NSS here today, CLC president Prof Laxman Gaddam and general secretary N Narayana Rao, alleged that the Nizamabad district collector had refused permission for the TPF to campaign, while in Kothagudem district, their vehicles were seized by the police. At many other places, the police were obstructing the campaign of the TPF, thus violating the orders given by the constitutional authority, the CEO.
They demanded the authorities to give permissions for the TPF to campaign in all the districts, return the vehicles and other materials seized. They said the police should respect the constitutional authorities. (NSS)
