CM denies advancing LS polls at PM’s behest

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao today rejected comments that the TRS leadership has advanced the Lok Sabha polls at the behest of the Centre.

Speaking in the Assembly during a debate on vote-on-account budget, the Chief Minister said the Modi Government did not help him for advance polls for last June or July. “By preparing ground, I advanced the polls by canceling the Assembly and the EC had to cooperate, he said. We are not ready to beg the Centre and will dictate terms to it and polls have been necessitated, KCR said.

“I did not get the support from the Centre or Modi Government to advance the polls for the Assembly”, he said. “We have imposed a situation on the Election Commission to hold the polls within six months as per Constitution followed by the cancellation of the Assembly”.  (NSS)
