CM KCR boosted people’s trust in government hospitals: Puvvada

Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao implemented radical changes in the State’s public healthcare system, boosting people’s trust in government hospitals.

People used to be afraid of going to government hospitals for treatment, but now they do so with complete confidence. He stated that government hospitals were being outfitted with facilities not found even in private hospitals.

As part of Telangana Medical Day celebrations, Ajay Kumar and district Collector VP Gautham inaugurated the newly established Radiology Lab, Dialysis Centre, and Chemotherapy Centre in Government General Hospital here on Wednesday.

On the occasion of World Blood Donation Day observed on June 14, the minister also launched the distribution of KCR Nutrition Kits provided by the government to pregnant women and donated blood.

Speaking on the occasion, he stated that there were once only 250 beds in Khammam General Hospital, with each bed accommodating two patients. After the BRS government took power, the number of beds was increased to 570, and people were given access to the MCH Centre, trauma care, critical care, and dialysis units.

The State government has already allocated Rs.166 crore for the establishment of a Government Medical College, with classes beginning this academic year with 100 MBBS seats. The college was in the process of modernizing the old collectorate building, which had been allocated Rs.9 crore, as well as constructing a foot over bridge, which had been allocated Rs.3.5 crore.

57 different types of medical tests were provided free of charge to those who came from primary health centers to the Government General Hospital. Ajay Kumar stated that the establishment of a Radiology Lab has made expensive CT scan and X-ray services available.

In addition to the Government General Hospital in Khammam, Collector Gautham stated that nine Basti Dawakhanas and 161 Palle Dawakhanas have been providing quality medical services to the poor.
