CM to visit Gattu, Tummilla on June 29

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will visit Gadwal Jougulamba District on June 29 and will take a look at the works of Thummilla Lift Irrigation Scheme.

He will lay foundation stone for the Ghattu Lift Irrigation Scheme on the same day which has already got administrative sanctions from the government. Then the chief minister will also participate and address the public meeting in Gadwal organized by TRS Party.

It is pertinent to note that the government gave administrative sanction for Rs 553. 98 cr for Gattu lift irrigation scheme. The chief minister’s visit assumes significance as already financial support was extended for the project which will prove handy to irrigate parched lands in Gattu and nearby areas in Gadwal Jogulamba districts. During statehood movement itself KCR has promised to resolve the Gattu area problem of irrigation and now lift irrigation will auger to the needs of agriculture on completion.

Officials prepared designs for the project to ensure that as many as 28000 acre will be coming under irrigation including 3000 acres stabilisation and 25000 new ayacut in Gattu and Dharur mandals by completion of the Gattu lift irrigation works. For this, JNLIS (Nettempadu lift schme) stage-2 will be used for lifting 2.80 tmc waters from Relampadu reservoir to Penchikalpadu reservoir, construct a pump house at Alur village in Gattu mandal. Also it was planned to fix two motors with 3.23 mw capacity and lift 216 cusecs through each pump and construct a balancing reservoir at Penchikalpadu. From there it was planned to irrigate 18500 acres through 17 km long right canal and 9500 acres through 13.8 long left canal.(NSS)
