Hyderabad: On the second day of Medaram jathara, Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy today said the Centre was not giving national festival status to this event.
During his visit to the jathara site, the minister said main ritual takes place to bring Goddess Sammakka to the site. He said the biennial jathara is witnessing huge turnout of devotees at the Chilkalagutta, abode of the goddesses. He also interacted with the devotees on the facilities in the area flocked by lakhs of devotees. He directed the officials to that no inconvenience was caused to people while having darshan of the deities.
His visit gets significance as Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is to visit the Medaram jathara site on Friday. Also Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavati Rathod visited the jathara site. She hinted that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will have darshan of Sammakka and Sarakka on Friday.
