CM YS Jagan launches welfare scheme for shepherds

Amaravati:- The Chief Minister of the state YS Jaganmohan Reddy today launched the Jeeva Kranthi scheme for the welfare of the shepherds of the state. The scheme is meant to distribute herds of goats and sheep to the beneficiaries from the Shepherd community.

The CM launched the scheme virtually from his camp office. The state government is spending Rs.1869 crore for the distribution of the scheme. It would distribute 2.49 lakh goats and sheep under the scheme. The beneficiaries have gifted an eve to the CM on the launch of the scheme.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM termed the scheme as one of his most endearing schemes. He said that the agriculture allied activities like rearing of sheep and goat poultry and pisciculture would immensely help the farmers and increase their income levels. He said that the allied activities would come to the rescue of the farmers during drought and floods. He alleged that his predecessors had never thought of developing the agriculture allied sectors.

He said that his government was distributing 4.69 lakh of a herd of buffaloes and cows by spending. Rs.3500 crores. He also said that they had entered into an agreement with Amul India Private Limited. Commenting on the Jeeeva Kranthi scheme, he said that each unit would have 15 to 16 goats or sheep.
