New Delhi: Stating that his relation with the Congress party was undividable, former Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that the division assurances will be fulfilled only if the Congress party comes to power at the centre. Special status to Andhra Pradesh state was possible only with the Congress party, he said and alleged that the BJP- led NDA government ridiculed the assurances given by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in the Parliament. He opined that the ruling and opposition parties in the state have utterly failed in implementation of division Act and made it clear that the Congress party, which prepared the division Act, was ready to implement it immediately after coming to power.
Speaking to the media after re-joining the Congress party in presence of AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi at latter’s residence here, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that his family had got recognition with the Congress party. “My father won four times and I also won four times as Legislator just because of Congress party. I enjoyed the positions like Chief Whip, Speaker and Chief Minister because my family had close relations with Gandhi family. I was a close associate of former Chief Minister late Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy. I am feeling happy for coming back to the fold of Congress party. I am ready to perform efficiently in any position given by the party. We are striving to get about 30 to 40 leaders back to the fold of the party”, he said. (NSS)
