Congress’ Commitment to Marginalized Communities in Telangana

Former Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao expressed dissatisfaction with Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and HD Kumaraswamy’s silence in response to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement against Muslim reservation. Rao, speaking to the media, slammed the BJP’s anti-Muslim and BC (Backward Class) posture. In response, the Telangana Congress party has agreed to release a separate statement for the benefit of Muslims, Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes.

Hanumantha Rao stressed that Telangana’s Muslims are looking to the Congress Party for assistance, and he chastised KCR and Kumaraswamy for remaining silent in the face of Amit Shah’s statement opposing Muslim reservations. In order to address the problems of BC communities, the Congress party plans to hold a BC Girjana (BC community assembly) in Telangana soon to promote their promises and measures for the welfare of BC communities.

The Congress leader also urged for 50 percent of seats in legislative bodies to be awarded to BC communities based on demographic representation. Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party’s leader, has committed to promote equitable power distribution based on the proportionate population of various social strata.

Public forums will be held in several regions to prepare for the BC Girjana. These meetings are set for July 19 in Sangareddy, July 21 in Karimnagar, July 23 in Nizamabad, and July 24 in Adilabad. During these rallies, the Congress party will make public Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to raising BC reserves.

The issue of Muslim reservation and the representation of BC communities in legislative bodies remains a major concern for Telangana’s various political parties, and the Congress is taking the lead in addressing these issues and garnering support from the state’s marginalized communities. The party’s separate statement for the welfare of diverse communities seeks to address their special needs and problems, as well as secure their support, ahead of approaching elections or major political events.
