Jagtial: Protesting against price hike of petrol and diesel, the Congress activists organized bandh here on Monday. They demanded that the Central government bring petrol and diesel under the GST purview. Former MLA T Jeevan Reddy participated in the bike rally organised by the local Congress party activists.
Speaking on the occasion, Jeevan Reddy said petrol and diesel prices will depend upon crude oil prices. The crude oil price in 2014-15 was Rs 120 per barrel but today it was Rs 70. But instead of decreasing the prices of diesel and petrol, the government was increasing them as wished. The State and Central governments have transformed petrol and diesel sales as revenue source, he said.
Questioning the Centre as to why it was not bringing petrol and diesel under GST purview, Jeevan Reddy lamented that the prices of petrol and diesel have increased in unprecedented manner. (NSS)
