Congress MPs Stage Dharna in Parliament Premises Against KCR’s Anti-Constitution Comments

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP A. Revanth Reddy reiterated the demand that a case of treason be booked against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao who wants the Constitution of India to be changed.

Revanth Reddy, along with Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar Reddy and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkatreddy, staged a dharna before the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the Parliament premises in Delhi on Monday.

Speaking to media persons, Revanth Reddy said that the Congress MPs were staging a dharna to bring to the notice of President of India Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi the remarks made by CM KCR demanding changing the Constitution. He said KCR’s demand amounts to treason and therefore, necessary legal action should be taken against him. He also demanded that PM Modi responds to the KCR’s treasonous remarks.

He said that the Constitution of India has empowered Dalits, Tribals, and Backward Classes by providing them reservations in education and employment. He said the SCs and STs enjoy reservation in the Parliament and State Legislatures due to the present Constitution. He said KCR wants the Constitution to be changed so as to deprive reservation to the Dalits, Girijans, and BCs in jobs, education, and legislatures. Further, he said that KCR wants to impose a dictatorial form of government by changing the Constitution.

The TPCC Chief said that KCR’s demand was part of a larger conspiracy hatched by the BJP leadership. He said KCR has acted as spokesperson for BJP in floating the idea for changing the Constitution so as to trigger a debate and create a favorable atmosphere. He said PM Modi and CM KCR want to emulate the leadership of Vladimir Putin of Russia, Kim Jong-un of North Korea, and Xi Jinping of China by imposing dictatorial rule across the country by bringing a new Constitution.

Revanth Reddy informed that the Congress MPs would give an adjournment motion notice on the issue in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
