Congress OBC Cell seeks 40% quota in local polls

Hyderabad: The Congress OBC Cell has demanded that the State government allot 40 percent reservations in local bodies’ elections in the State. The Cell also demanded that the State government provide KG-to-PG free education to OBC students.

The Telangana Congress OBC Cell felicitated Lok Sabha member and newly appointed AICC OBC Cell chairman Thamaradwaj Sahuji here on Tuesday at a program held in Gandhi Bhavan.

Speaking on the occasion, the OBC leaders decided to strive to make AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi as Prime Minister. They also demanded that the Centre to lift the BC’s Creamy Layer system, which was distancing the OBCs from their rights. They also asked the Congress party to follow the reservations in appointing all party committees besides implementing reservations in allocating seats in the Panchayat elections to Parliament elections. They also asked the party to include BC Sub-plan in the party manifesto for 2019 elections.

TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, senior BC leader V Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Laxmaiah and others participated in the meeting. (NSS)
