Congress party seeks action against TRS MP, MLC

Congress party today sought action against ruling TRS party public representatives for committing during the election of municipal chairman and vice chairman of Nakrekal municipality.

The Convener of the TPCC Election Commission Coordination Committee G.Niranjan  Urged State Election Commission (SEC) to take criminal action against TRS party Rajya Sabha MP Captain Laxmikanth Rao and Sri MLC B.Laxminarayana as they fraudulently opted the nakrekal municipality concealing the fact that they had exercised their vote in GHMC Mayor Deputy Mayor elections in February  2021.

He also requested the commission for revealing the report of the Rajya Sabha secretariat in  K.Keshava Rao’s case and action taken on the issue.  He wrote a letter to the commissioner of the SEC C. Parthasarathi. In his letter, Niranjan requested to take it seriously and to initiate action against all the officials and ministers for indulging in this criminal act. He said that MP Laxmikanth Rao and MLC  B. Laxminarayana names were in the list as ex officio members and added that they also attended the special meeting convened for the election of the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson for Nakrekal Municipality. “As our Congress Ward members have raised objection for the inclusion of their names in the list as they opted for the GHMC and participated in the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections held in the month of February 2021.

The Parliament members or legislators cannot opt for more than one local body to exercise their vote as an ex-officio member.”

As our ward members raised objections and submitted valid proof as they got information under the RTI act, there was no other way for them except to leave the meeting hall,” he said.

He said that the officials would have allowed them to vote illegally under the pressure of the ruling TRS party as it was done in the case of Tukkuda Municipality elections in January 2020, where the TRS MP K.Keshava Rao, who was allowed to the Andhra Pradesh at the time of division, cast his vote with manipulation and putting pressure on the officials.

He said that they had raised objections and a written complaint was given to both the SEC and CDMA but against all norms both KVP and K.Keshava Rao cast their vote in Nereducharla and Tukkuguda Municipalities. It is to be noted that KVP was allotted to Telangana and K.K was allotted to Andhra Pradesh at the time of State division, he noted.
