Congress Party’s Calculated Approach for Minority Support

In Telangana, the Congress party is using a calculated approach to gaining support from minority communities, particularly the Muslim community, in the 2018 assembly elections. The party has resolved to issue a minority proclamation that would include major promises and measures targeted at boosting minority groups’ educational, economic, and social growth.

The Pradesh Congress Committee’s President, Revanth Reddy, has created a seven-member draft committee to produce this minority proclamation. Among those on the committee are former minister Muhammad Ali Shabbir, former MP Mohammad Azharuddin, and Minority Department Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Sohail.

The committee intends to meet with representatives from various religious and social organizations to solicit feedback and suggestions on the declaration’s contents. They are actively collecting perspectives on minority issues from stakeholders and professionals, with the goal of incorporating practical methods for the development of the Muslim community.

The minority declaration’s key focal areas include fostering economic and educational growth among minority populations, preserving existing reservations, and improving possibilities for jobless educated youth. The declaration strives to address minority groups’ concerns and goals thoroughly.

Furthermore, the Congress party is bolstering its grassroots activities by assigning coordinators to the Praja Garjana Programme in Chevarla. This step underscores the party’s commitment to engage with local communities and addressing their needs and concerns as the elections approach.
