Congress planning to lay siege to Pragathi Bhavan on April 14

According to Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy, Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Telangana by the end of April. In addition, the party decided to lay siege to K Chandrashekar Rao’s camp office – Pragati Bhavan on April 14, he said.

Revanth met with senior party leaders on Friday and discussed how to intensify agitations on people’s issues in the run-up to Rahul Gandhi’s arrival in Telangana.

The leaders were instructed to hold regular dharnas, rallies, and protests against the State and Union governments in their respective districts and Assembly constituencies. It is reported that the TPCC chief urged his party members to expose the TRS-BJP nexus in the state.

The recent fight between the State government and the Centre over paddy procurement was stage-managed, he told the leaders. In order to express solidarity with the farmers awaiting the procurement, the leaders were asked to visit the fields.

He reportedly asked the party leaders to mobilise Congress workers and people for the siege of Pragati Bhavan. On the other hand, the TPCC is planning to hold a big rally and a public meeting in Warangal during which Rahul is reported to participate.

A meeting with all Congress leaders had also been planned, which will be attended by Rahul Gandhi at the party office in the state capital during his visit.

Revanth Reddy had also claimed that Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao is using the strained relationship between Pragathi Bhavan and Raj Bhavan as an excuse to convince his family that now is not the right time for his son KT Rama Rao to become CM.

He also urged Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to make use of the special powers conferred upon her under Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act.
