Congress To Adpot “One Post One Man” After Chintan Shivir; Leaders With Dual Charge To Face Heat

After the renunciation of Kamal Nath as Leader of the opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly, the Congress is preparing to carry out ‘Limited One Post’ rule at the AICC and state level after the ‘Chintan Shivir’.

A few Congress leaders holding double charge will confront the hotness at the appointed time, sources said, adding that the party believes the state unit should be more dynamic in its exhibition and effectively include in political exercises. The individual with double or more charges will be given each task in turn. Presently, Congress leaders like Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Randeep Singh Surjewala and Mukul Wasnik hold more than one charge.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury holds the charge of Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha and West Bengal party president, while Randeep Singh Surjewala is the party’s Karnataka General Secretary and in control who heads the party’s correspondence office. Mukul Wasnik is Madhya Pradesh party general secretary and secretary of Central Election Committee(CEC).

In the interim, veteran Congress leader and previous Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath, on Thursday left the post of LoP in the state Assembly. Congress President Sonia Gandhi has acknowledged his renunciation and designated Govind Singh in his place.

Congress General Secretary (Organization) K.C. Venugopal kept in touch with Kamal Nath on Thursday, saying: “This is to illuminate you that the Congress President has acknowledged your renunciation from the post of Leader, Congress Legislature Party, Madhya Pradesh, with prompt impact. The party sincerely values your commitment as the CLP Leader, Madhya Pradesh.”

Kamal Nath was holding the posts of head of opposition and state Congress President. Presently he is just the head of the state unit of the party. The veteran chief said that he had previously decided to surrender one of the two posts, yet the party had requested that he keep chipping away at the two positions.

He has been the objective of the BJP throughout the previous few days for the double posts he held with the saffron party constantly bringing up issues on his obligations.
