Country Recognized the Success of Telangana in Agriculture Sector: Niranjan Reddy

State Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said that the entire country had recognized the successes achieved by Telangana state in its agriculture sector.

He said that they had not only completed irrigation projects but also increased the area of cultivation.

He made these remarks while replying to questions raised in by MLCs Tera Chinnappa Reddy and others in Telangana State Legislative Council.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the farmers of Telangana were leading a life of dignity by keeping their head high thanks to the pro agriculture sector policies of Chief Minister  KCR. He said that the presence of irrigation water and implementation of various welfare schemes in the agriculture sector had  led to the increase in the area of cultivation and production of food grains. He said that the state had secured the second position in the entire country in the production of paddy. He alleged that some opposition leaders were making baseless allegations against the state government due to their lack of knowledge.

He made it clear that the irrigation projects were defined as the modern temples of the country. He said that the state government was encouraging crops which are in demand in association with market research analysis wing.

He said that the crops cultivated by the farmers of the state were being exported to different states of the country and the countries of the world. He said that the responsibility to ensure balance in the production of the food grains lies on the shoulders of central government. Reddy said That  they were encouraging oil palm and pulses cultivation in the state besides asking them to cultivate ground nut crop.

He said that the ground nut crop of the state has a lot of demand in international market. He said that they were planning to increase the area of cultivation from 3.75 lakh acres of the last year to 5 lakh this year.

He said that they would create awareness among the farmers of the state by using Rythu vedikas. Commenting on the issue of the procurement of the food grains by central government, he said that they would get clarity on the issue during the next couple of days and added that the central government was procuring paddy from the farmers in Punjab while noting that the state government has been urging the central government to procure the paddy in the same manner from Telangana state.
