Covaxin Added to UK’s Vaccine Approval List for International Travellers 

In the latest update, Hyderabad-based pharma major Bharat Biotech’s Covid vaccine Covaxin will soon be added to the UK government’s approved list of vaccines for international travellers. The same will be in effect from November 22.

UK Adds Vaccines To Their Approved List 

As per the new travel guidelines released by the UK government, it said that from 4 am on November 22, the government will recognize the vaccines on the World Health Organizations’ Emergency Use Listing.

This comes after WHO recently approved Covaxin for emergency use listing last week.

The guidelines further said that the vaccines approved includes Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford Astrazeneca, Covishield, Moderna and Janssen, Sinovac, Sinopharm Beijing and Covaxin.

“Sinovac, Sinopharm Beijing and Covaxin will be added to our list of approved vaccines for inbound travel, benefitting more fully vaccinated people from countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and India,” it added further.

People Vaccinated With Covaxin Will Not Have To Self Isolate 

Alex Ellis the British High Commissioner to India said that there is more good news for the Indian travellers to the UK. From november 22, the travellers fully vaccinated with a Covid 19 vaccine under the WHO EUL including Covaxin will not have to self-isolate. They would be abel to join the ones with Covershield.

Sajid Javid, UK Health Secretary said that the announcement is another step for the travel industry, family and friends wanting to reunited or go abroad, and the businesses. He further added that the red list and quarantine system would remain vital in protecting the borders. He ensured that they will not hesitate to take actions and add more countries to red list if necessary.

The UK government has also eased the travel rules for people below the age of 18 years and want to come to England. They will be treated as fully vaccinated at the border and will not be needed to quarantine on arrival.
