Covid Positive Mother Births Healthy Twins In Uttar Pradesh

Amidst the rising cases of Covid 19 and the concerns, newborn twins have spread the ray of light. A 26-year old Covid positive pregnant woman has successfully delivered twins at a Covid community health centre in Uttar Pradesh.

Medical Team Arranges Special Labour Room For Covid Positive Pregnant Woman

As per the statement released by the team of three doctors, the woman was admitted to the hospital in the emergency unit. Her oxygen level dropped to 87 on Monday and was on oxygen support. However, on Tuesday, she started to have labour pain and the doctors arranged a special labour room for her. Following which, she gave birth to healthy twins in Chandausi, in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh.

Dr Khilendra Saxena who works at the Narauli CHC said that the doctors who attended to the woman made sure that they followed all precautionary measures and the Covid 19 safety guidelines in the emergency room during the time of delivery.

Dr Saxena said that the woman gave birth to twins. The first one was born healthy and normal. However, the second child had some breathing complications initially and was put on oxygen support for a while. But the baby improved eventually. Both the twins are healthy and Covid free.

Talking to the media, Dr Manoj Junabai, Nodal Officer said that it is not necessary that if the mother is Covid positive then her children will be too. However, just to be sure and to take all necessary precautions, the infants will be tested again for Covid 19 after two days. As of now, both the infants have been separated from their mother (as she is still Covid positive) and have been handed over to the family members.

Two Women Leave Home To Take Care Of Four Day Old Infant

The news comes from Pune where two women left their homes to stay with a four year old infant. The family of the infant tested Covid 19 positive and the boy was born prematurely and weighs. However, the baby had to be separated from his mother as she fights against the pandemic virus in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Along with her, the boy’s grandmother is on ventilator support and father is taking care of the hospital duties for both women.

After learning about the situation, the neighbours of the family; Janabai Pawar (65) and Asha Barde (35) volunteered to take care of the infant as the family flights Covid 19. Both women left their families at home and have come to the Covid facility to take care of the boy.
