Man dupes woman through Facebook

In a different case, the Cybercrime police were contacted by a woman who complained of being duped by a man she became friends with on Facebook.

The victim had said she became close friends with someone in Ludhiana after meeting them on Facebook. The man on many different occasions took money from her under the pretext of soon marrying her.

When the victim had learned that the man was unemployed, she started to maintain a distance from him. By showing pictures they had taken together, he is then alleged to have blackmailed her. An investigation has been initiated.

In another case, an arrest was made by the Rachakonda Police Cybercrime department not too long ago, for allegedly harassing a young girl on social media.

Police had identified the suspect as D Sai Krishna, a 21-year-old undergraduate student from Bhupapally. In addition to being a relative of the victim, the accused had allegedly recorded the victim while she was bathing.

Krishna had started harassing the victim by forcing her to make inappropriate calls with him and had also threatened to put the videos on the internet if she had failed to follow his orders.

Krishna was afterwards arrested at his residence after the cybercrime police registered a case based on a complaint. The accused was then brought before a local court.
