Dale Steyn back in Proteas Test squad

Johanesburg: Dale Steyn returns for Proteas; three spinners named for Sri Lanka Tour, @DaleSteyn62 makes his long-awaited return to the Standard Bank Proteas Test squad for the two-match series to be played against Sri Lanka next month.

Dale Steyn to return to peak fitness and form in international cricket was restated on Monday (June 11) when the fast bowler was named in the 15-man Test squad for next month’s tour of Sri Lanka. Steyn’s last appearance for the Proteas came in the first Test against India at Newlands at the start of the year, which he was unable to complete when he limped out of the second innings with a heel injury.

South African coach Ottis Gibson has said a fully-fit Steyn would be included in the country’s team, Steyn will be competing with world number one bowler Kagiso Rabada, experienced seamer Vernon Philander and exciting youngster Lungi Ngidi for a starting place in a country where it is unlikely that more than three fast bowlers will be picked.
