The Defence Ministry on Tuesday authorised proposals well worth Rs 7,965 crore for modernisation of the Armed Forces beneath ‘Make in India’.
The Defence Acquisition Council chaired by way of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals for modernisation and operational wishes of the Armed Forces amounting to Rs 7,965 crore.

“All of these proposals (a hundred in step with cent) are underneath ‘Make in India’ with awareness on design, development and manufacturing in India,” Defence Ministry stated in a declaration. Key approvals of procurement from domestic sources consist of twelve Light Utility Helicopters from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL); Lynx U2 Fire Control System from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) so that it will decorate the detection monitoring and engagement capabilities of Naval battleships and Mid Life Upgradation of the Dornier Aircraft from HAL to increase the Naval capability of maritime reconnaissance and coastal surveillance.
As a further impetus to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, an international procurement case of Naval guns has been foreclosed with these weapons’ quantity added to the upgraded Super Rapid Gun Mount (SRGM) being manufactured by using Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
These SRGMs offer an area of interest talents of attractive rapid manoeuvring targets the usage of guided munitions and range extensions and are to be geared up on the warships of the Indian Navy.
