Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Imposes Weekend Curfew To Curb Covid 19

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi recently announced “weekend curfew” across Delhi. This moves with the aim to break the chain of Covid 19 spread.

Delhi CM To Provide Passes To Essential Services And Marriages

In a video conference, Arvind Kejriwal announced the weekend curfew across the city. However, he said that the lockdown relaxations will be given to the essentia services like hospitals, railway stations, airports,etc and upcoming marriages. This is to ensure that there is no panic in the city. The government will provide them with passes. People may apply for passes and they will be provided the same without any “harassment”.

The decision was made after a series of meetings conducted with the Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, the Health Minister, the Chief Secretary, Health Secretary and other top officials.

He said that the decision to impose lockdown is unanimous as people tend to visit places for entertainment and other activities. With the rising cases, it needs to be curtailed. At the same time, the restrictions may not create any issues for the people. The aim with the weekend curfew is to break the chain Covid 19 infection spread on the weekends.

During the restrictions malls, gyms, spas and auditoriums will remain closed. But cinema halls are allowed to run with 30 per cent capacity. One weekly market per day and per zone method will also be allowed. But the weekly markets will have provisions to avoid crowds. An order for the same will be released soon. At the same time, restaurant’s Dine-In facility will not be allowed. People may order food and opt for home delivery.

Delhi CM Encourages People To Abide By The Restrictions 

Kejriwal said that the enforcement will be stricter at public places and markets. But it is only to ensure that people are following the social distancing rules and wearing facemasks is mandatory and needs to be implemented strictly.

He said that the restrictions are for the people and their health. He understands that restrictions may cause problems for some but it will help us to curb the fourth wave of Coronavirus.

This comes after the government cancelled the Class 10th exams and postponed the Class 12th exams.
