Delhi Deputy CM Seeks Army Help Amidst Rising Covid 19 Cases

Amidst the rising cases of Covid 19, the Delhi government has written to the Central Government to deploy Armed Forces in the national capital. They need the army to help set up and operationalise Covid 19 facilities.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Appeals To Centre For Army Assistance

As per the latest reports, Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi has written a letter to the Central government and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to allow the Armed Forces to help with the Covid 19 situation in the national capital. The Delhi government plans to set up 10,000 oxygenated non-ICU beds and 1000 ICU beds with the help of the Armed forces.

In the letter, Sisodia mentioned that Delhi is in the midst of an unprecedented Covid surge and has stretched the health infrastructure to its maximum level. He said that the health infrastructure machinery is overwhelmed with the management of the existing hospitals and the upcoming care centres. Following this, they need the help of the Ministry of Defence to provide and man the additional Covid health facilities as per the current projections.

In the letter, he said Indian Army has always been at the forefront in helping the country through all crises.

Manish Sisodia Demands Supply of Medical Oxygen For Upcoming Covid Centre 

With the enormous increase in the number of cases of Covid 19, Sisodia said that the new Covid centre that is being set up is likely to filled up as soon as it gets built. Following this, they need to be prepared with at least 10,000 oxygenated non-ICU beds and 1,000 ICU beds at the earliest.

He said that Delhi currently has 16,272 non-ICU oxygen beds and 4866 ICU beds. Within its capacity, the Delhi government is creating another 15,000 oxygenated non-ICU beds and 1200 ICU beds that are likely to be in operation within the next 10 days.

Talking about the same, he said that another requirement is the supply of medical oxygen. He said that they are grateful for the increase in the amount of medical oxygen to be supplied to Delhi. But they need better access to the plants where the supply is being carried from.

He said that it would be an extraordinary help from the Armed Forces if they can help in providing cryogenic tankers for the transport of Liquid Medical Oxygen.
