Delhi Government To Add More ICU and Oxygen Beds Amidst Rising Cases

Assuring the Delhi population amidst the shortage of medical oxygen and beds for Covid 19 patients, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the government is working towards adding more oxygen beds across Delhi in the upcoming weeks.

Delhi Government To Arrange More Beds For Covid Patients

As per the latest reports, the Delhi CM recently conducted meetings with health officials regarding the current situation of Covid 19 cases in Delhi. They discussed increasing the number of oxygen beds in the upcoming days along with strengthening the home isolation system for the Covid positive patients.

The meeting included Deputy Chief Minister and Nodal Minister Manish Sisodai, the Additional Chief Secretary, Health Secretary and Health Minister Satyedar Jain along with other health officials.

Talking to the media, Kejriwal said that they have been noticing that the new strain of the Covid 19 is dangerous and often leads to respiratory and breathing issues in the Covid positive patients. He said that it has become very important for people to have more beds for everyone who needs oxygen support.

He assured them that they are in the process of adding more ICU beds and oxygen beds in the upcoming weeks. He said that the government needs to further strengthen the home isolation system. Every person who is recovering from Covid 19 must receive regular calls from the Delhi government doctor along with an oximeter. They must monitor their condition daily to keep track of how people are dealing with the virus at home.

In the past couple of days, the Delhi government has been working towards increasing the beds and the supply of medical oxygen to the hospitals. Many hospitals raised alarms regarding the shortage of supply and the critical patients who died due to the same. Kejriwal recently visited the hospitals to review their preparedness.

Reports suggest that a total of 1200 oxygen beds will be added by May 10. Out of these 500 oxygen beds will be available at Ramila Maidan opposite the LNJP hospital. Another 500 beds will be available at the GTB Hospital and 200 ICU beds will be added in Radha Soami Satsang Beas Covid Care Centre.

Delhi Government Reports Over 44,000 Cases In 24 Hours

As per the latest reports, the Delhi government on Thursday morning reported a total of 44.350 cases in the past 24 hours along with 761 deaths. The total positive rate currently stands at 6.46 percent.
