Delhi horror repeats in UP: Woman hit by truck, dragged for 3 km

Even as the outrage over the Delhi girl being dragged by a car continues, a similar incident has come to light in Uttar Pradesh where a woman riding a scooty was hit by a truck that dragged her body for 3 km.

The ghastly incident took place in Mawai Buzurg village of Banda district. As per initial reports, the truck caught fire as the woman’s body got stuck in the chassis. Even the scooty of the victim was burnt to ashes.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire and police tried to get the victim’s body out of the truck.

The victim’s name is Pushpa, they worked as a clerk at a university. She went out to buy household items when the accident took place.

After the accident, the truck reportedly dragged the woman for over 3 km. A number of passers-by tried to stop the truck but the driver did not. The accident took place as there were no breakers in the area.

Remember that The woman, who was killed in the horrific accident on Delhi’s outskirts late Saturday, was dragged 10 to 12 km from Sultanpuri to Kanjhawala under the vehicle, police said.

Addressing a press conference, Special Commissioner of Police, Law, and Order, Sagar Preet Hooda, earlier said that a medical board has been constituted to conduct the post-mortem.

“The accused will be taken to the crime scene for recreation. Detailed interrogation would take place and timelines would be drawn on the basis of CCTV footage and digital evidence. The story of the accused will be verified,” he said.

“The victim’s family is being updated about the investigation, on the basis of CCTV footage and digital evidence,” Hooda said, assuring that the police will gather all necessary evidence to ensure that the accused get the strictest punishment.
