Hyderabad: Former MLA of Warangal East Assembly constituency Konda Surekha today expressed shock over not finding her name in the list of 105 TRS candidates announced by party supremo and care-taker Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao the other day though she had won the seat in 2014 elections with a handsome majority of 45,000 votes.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Saturday, Surekha alleged that the TRS chief insulted her and caused pain by not announcing her name in the list of 105 candidates. She warned that she would announce her decision if the TRS party failed to announce her name within 24 hours. It may be mentioned here that ruling party chief KCR kept the candidate for Warangal East constituency in abeyance.
Surekha explained that she had contested from Warangal East constituency on the word of KCR by leaving her Parakala constituency. “KCR convinced me to contest from Warangal East to defeat Basavaraju Saraiah. I thought of contesting 2014 election as an independent from Parakala. But KCR asked me again to join TRS party. KCR had also assured me a minister post and MLC seat to my husband. People voted me to win with huge majority”, she said. But the TRS chief didn’t announce her name in the 105 candidates’ list though she had won the election by huge majority on TRS plank. She also said she never said anything though KCR slipped his assurance of giving minister post to her. “I developed Warangal East constituency in a big way. KCR has to tell as to what mistake I committed”, she asked.
Stating that she never took a single paisa from the party for any election, Surekha said she spent her own money during Palla Rajeshwar Reddy’s MLC election and Municipal Corporation elections. She said, “KCR gave tickets to those, who came from the TDP. He has to spell reasons for not giving ticket to me? She demanded KCR to make the survey report about the candidates public. “Telangana is not a house of Kalvakuntlas. People will not keep quiet if they wanted to transform Telangana into a family company. They didn’t give me ticket only show door. The government has been tapping our phones as well as our driver’s phone”, she alleged.
Fires salvos at KTR
Targeting KT Ramarao, Surekha said, “KTR never supported me but troubled me. KTR was responsible for omission of my name from the candidates’ list. Initially, Harish Rao opposed my entry into TRS, but supported me later. My husband, my daughter and I will contest the elections if need arises”, she said, adding that KCR insulted BCs, SCs by not giving tickets to her, Bodige Shobha and Nallala Odelu.
Surekha also pointed out that KCR cabinet alone in the country which has no woman minister. She said she didn’t benefit anything from the TRS party except B-forms. “I am working for the sake of the party development, but they didn’t give me ticket though I am four time MLA. It is dishonour to the BCs in the State. She also alleged that KCR admitted Saraiah, Gundu Sudharani, Errabelli Dayakar Rao into his party without informing them”.
Brushing aside rumors that they demanded two tickets, Surekha said they informed everything to KTR and Santosh time and again. “KTR was preparing his own team and the party gave ticket to MP Balka Suman and Narender Reddy keeping her name aside”. She said she had gone to Bhupalapally constituency as the police had filed false cases against her followers. She had only urged KCR to give two tickets (Warangal East and Parakala) to us but never demanded. She said they will announce their decision within two days after the party’s response. (NSS)
