Do not have a Voter ID? No Worries! Alternative Documents Welcomed at Polling Stations

In anticipation of the upcoming Telangana election scheduled for November 30th, the Election Commission has issued a reminder to voters regarding the importance of possessing a valid Voter ID. However, recognizing that some individuals may not have a Voter ID, the Election Commission has outlined a list of alternative documents that can be used as proof of identity for casting votes.

While the Voter ID remains the primary and preferred form of identification, voters who do not possess one can still participate by presenting any of the following documents:

  1. Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC): Widely accepted as a primary identification document for voters.
  2. Aadhaar Card: The unique identification card issued by the government.
  3. Driving License: A valid and government-issued driving license.
  4. PAN Card: The Permanent Account Number card issued by the Income Tax Department.
  5. Smart Card: Government-issued smart cards with a photograph.
  6. Passport: An international travel document.
  7. PASSBOOK: Issued by bank or post office with photo.
  8. Pension Document with Photo: Official pension documents that include a photograph of the individual.

These alternative documents serve as valid proof of identity for casting votes in the upcoming election. Voters are encouraged to ensure they carry one of these documents to avoid any inconvenience on the polling day.
