Doctors, techies, and students arrested in drug bust in Hyderabad

On Saturday, the Hyderabad City Police arrested IT professionals, university students, and even a doctor as it busted three-drug rackets operated by organized gangs here.

According to City Police Commissioner CV Anand, who briefed the media, individuals arrested as part of the crackdown on drug gangs included professionals working in various positions in the IT industry, as well as students from Hyderabad Central University and other private colleges.

Eleven of those arrested worked in IT, one was an HCU student, five were pursuing BTech, and one was a doctor at a private hospital. Seven students, including two females, were absconding.

“All of the arrested individuals were consuming drugs obtained from drug cartels. We seized ganja, LSD blots, MDMA, and hash oil,” Anand stated.

Nicolas Olusula Rotimy, a Nigerian, was also apprehended.

“The Nigerian national was living in Puducherry and travelling to different towns to distribute drugs. He partnered with local suppliers and distributed the drugs through them,” the Commissioner stated, adding that the gangs had shifted to the Dark Web to place orders and transport prohibited commodities.

Drug racket busted, 80 kg of marijuana confiscated

On Saturday, the Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team and the Abdullapurmet police apprehended four people in Pedda Amberpet on the city’s outskirts and confiscated 80 kilos of marijuana, two cars, and other material, totalling worth Rs.32.5 lakh from them.

V Mukesh (25), Chouhan Srinivas (23), and Rathod Naveen (22), all of Sangareddy district, and V Anil (22) of Medak were arrested. Three suspects, Ramesh and Kamesh from Visakhapatnam and V Maruthi from Sangareddy, were absconding.

According to the authorities, Mukesh went to Araku Valley last year with Srinivas and Maruthi, where he met Ramesh, a local drug dealer. Ramesh offered to sell two kilograms of marijuana for Rs.2,000, asking them to sell it in Hyderabad for Rs.40,000.

Sunpreeth Singh, DCP (LB Nagar), stated that Maruthi invested approximately Rs.80,000 in order to obtain the drug and establish a business.

On February 18, the gang rented a car from Srinu of Medak and, after pasting a ‘Press’ sticker to it, drove to Lambasinghi in Visakhapatnam, where they met Ramesh and paid Rs.80,000 for 80 kg of marijuana.

On the way back, at the Outer Ring Road toll plaza in Pedda Amberpet, a police team stopped the car and apprehended them.
