Drugs Control Administration Seize Unauthorized Diacerein Stock in Telangana

In a recent operation, elite teams of drug inspectors from Telangana’s Drugs Control Administration (DCA) raided an unauthorized chemical facility on the outskirts of the city. Rakshit Drugs Pvt. Ltd., located in Bonthapally, Gummadidala mandal, Sangareddy district, was discovered to be involved in the unlicensed manufacture of the medicine ‘Diacerein.’

During the raid, DCA teams seized 236 kilogram of Diacerein stock, worth Rs 50.25 lakh. According to V. B Kamalsan Reddy, Director General of DCA, the company was manufacturing Diacerein without a valid drug manufacturing license.

The presence of nine drums containing yellow-colored powder labeled ‘CDE-I’ in the firm’s production area was discovered during the inspection. Further investigation revealed that ‘CDE-I’ stood for ‘Diacerein,’ a medication routinely used in the formulation for the treatment of osteoarthritis.
