‘Dynamism of Modi enhancing India’s image’

Hyderabad: Gurjit Singh, IFS (Retd), who was Ambassador to Germany, Indonesia, ASEAN, Ethopia has addressed the trainee Group-I officers, who are undergoing their Foundation Course at Dr. MCR HRD Institute. The theme of his presentation was “Globalization Impact on India”.

Gurjit Sing said the Indian view of globalization has been quite different from that of the West. “While India has seen globalization as a universal concept aimed at ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family’, the focus of the Western countries was mainly on colonialism and imperialism”. He observed that for the Western countries, globalization has been “vyapaar”, whereas, for India, it has been “pyaar and universal peace”. He said India was playing an important role at different global platforms in addressing multifarious challenges which have been thrown up by the surging tide of globalization.

Accordingly, he said, the current foreign policy of India primarily focuses on issues relating to terrorism, climate change, pandemics and non-traditional threat. “The eminence of Dr Manmohan Singh and dynamism of Narendra Modi were greatly instrumental in enhancing the image of India and also in adding great sheen to many a global campaign”, he opined.

B P Acharya, IAS, Special Chief Secretary and Director General of Dr MCR HRD Institute of Telangana presented a memento to Gurjit Singh. Kondapalli Sreeram, a trainee Group-I Officer proposed a vote of thanks. (NSS)
