Eat pulses, Cereals for health: Niranjan Reddy

Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said that people have to take nutritional food like pulses, cereals, and protein supplements to remain healthy and fit.

He called upon the farmers to grow crops that have good demand and marketing as per changing needs.

The minister participated in a program here to mark world pulses day here in the city. On the occasion, the agriculture minister advised the farmers to grow pulses, commercial crops to gain and avoid those which are not necessary.  Corona ruined our economies and devastated our lives as we vie for healthy foods with nutritional values, he said.

There is a need for an increase in the production of pulses, cereals, and commercial crops, Niranjan Reddy said. The minister stated that the world will get nothing if the villages are destroyed and agriculture is ignored.

Our intention is to see that the farmers grow need-based crops like red gram and others. We encouraged our farmers to grow red gram this time and they get Rs 6000 to Rs 7000 per quintal he said.

Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao is for farmers’ welfare and giving all support m, the minister claimed. Paddy cultivation was reduced and others like red gram, green gram, groundnut, and tigers are given a push he said.

The minister stated that red gram was grown in about 10.80 lakhs of acres in Telangana. Pulses being consumed since 10000 years ago and then people turned to eat non-vegetarian food items he noted. For our health and welfare of children we need to consume nutritional values, pulses,  good food items, and adopt cultivation practices the minister added.
