Hyderabad: Stalling the electoral prospects for the ruling TRS Party in Telangana, the Election Commission of India today issued orders against the distribution of sarees among the womenfolk in the State to mark Bathukamma festival on October 12.
In a release here, Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar today said the Election Commission has not permitted the distribution of sarees on the occasion of Bathukamma festival. He instructed the Industries and Commerce department and director of Handlooms and Textiles to stop distribution process of the sarees to the women.
While the Opposition parties were welcoming the decision of the EC against the sarees, the ruling party has condemning the former for playing politics with the people. (NSS)
