Etala flags off rice lorries to Kerala State

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government today sent 25 lorries loaded with 500 metric tons of boiled rice towards immediate relief to deluge hit Kerala people.

Followed by a directive of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Finance Minister Etala Rajender today flagged off 18 vehicles at People’s Plaza near Secretariat here along with Civil Supplies Chairman P Sudershan Reddy, Commissioner Akun Sabharwal, Rice Millers Association president G Nagender and others. Six more vehicles with rice also started from several other districts to Kerala simultaneously. On the appeal of Kerala Government, the Telangana Government sent a total of 24 lorries loaded with boiled rice towards immediate help to flood hit people.

The lorries with rice will reach in 18 hours to CWC Godowns in Edathala town near Kochi-Ernakulam 1102 km away from Hyderabad. Rajender said that the command control from Hyderabad monitoring lorries movement continuously to ensure smooth passage and handing over to the Kerala civil supplies wing. Attached with GPS machines each lorry loaded with 210 quintals of rice with quality and perfect weight.

The Finance Minister said that the KCR Government has responded immediately after the deluge and provided Rs 25 cr and other material. On humanitarian grounds the people should donate generously for helping the rain hit Kerala people, he urged. Akun Sabharwal is in touch with his Kerala counterpart Minnie Anthony and Food Director Dr NTL Reddy about 500 metric tons of rice sent to Kerala. (NSS)
