Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Monda Market police today arrested Congress leader and former MLA Turupu Jaya Prakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy, of Sanga Reddy for obtaining Indian Passports and USA Visas by submitting fabricated documents in the name of his wife T. Nirmala, daughter T. Jayalaxmi and son T. Bharath Sai Reddy by affixing photos of others from Regional Passport Office, Secunderabad and the US Consulate for monetary gain.
Speaking to the media, DCP Sumathi said they arrested Jagga Reddy with irrefutable evidences in regard to human trafficking case. Jagga Reddy sent three persons illegally in the name of his family members by taking Rs 15 lakh. She also condemned the allegations that they arrested Jagga Reddy as part of political revenge. She said they investigated the case based on a complaint given to Secunderabad Market Police Station. She said Jagga Reddy obtained passports in the name of his family members illegally in 2004 when he was MLA.
The sleuths seized Aadhar cards of Jayaprakash Reddy, his wife T. Nirmala, daughter T. Jayalaxmi and T. Bharath Sai Reddy and a family photo of T. Jayaprakash Reddy. Jagaprakash Reddy was produced before XXII ACMM Court, Secunderabad.
The DCP said Jayaprakash Reddy obtained passports in the year 2004 for himself and for three others in the name of his wife Nirmala, daughter Jayalaxmi and son Bharath Sai Reddy by affixing photos of others from RPO Secunderabad. After obtaining the Passports and US Visas, Jayaprakash Reddy illegally transported them by accompanying himself to the USA as his family members for making monetary gain.
The Market police registered a case under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471, 409 & 370 IPC, Section 12 of the Passport Act 1967 and Section 24 of Immigration Act 1983 and took up investigation. The DCP said the accused obtained US Visas from US Consulate, Chennai through the Passports. Jagga Reddy admitted he took Rs 15 lakh through an agent Madhu and trafficked three unidentified persons to the USA by accompanying them as his family members and dropped them at New York returned home. Thus the former MLA cheated the RPO authorities as well as US Consulate by misusing his official position as MLA by submitting forged documents.
The police today morning conducted medical tests in Gandhi Hospital and shifted him to North Zone DCP Office. Speaking on the occasion, Jagga Reddy alleged that caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Minister T Harish Rao made the police to arrest him. He alleged that they took the extreme step for political gain before the elections.
The police arrested Jagga Reddy when he was in a program in Patancheru and shifted him to Hyderabad. It is learnt that one unknown person lodged a complaint with the Secunderabad Market Police Station on Monday against Jagga Reddy alleging that Jagga Reddy came back single by going with his wife and children 14 years ago by taking passports to all. The police inquired and found that Jagga Reddy went along with a woman belonging to Gujarat and her children and left them in America. (NSS)
