Fool-proof arrangements for “Kanti Velugu” program: Talasani

Hyderabad: Take up all measures with improved facilities to launch “Kanti Velugu” program in the city, Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said.

He conducted a review meeting with officials of various departments including Hyderabad Collector Yogitha Rana, district Health official Venkat and others. The government is taking up this unique scheme to provide complete eye care with operations, treatment, goggles and medicines, he said. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is paying special attention on this program as it should help the poor and middle class who cannot afford for eye care services he said.

There are about 40 lakh people most of them old in the city and each division will have two health camps for eye testing and 15 staff will work at each camp he said. If necessary increase the number of eye camps and ensure that those coming for check up are treated he instructed. Plans are ready to conduct the free eye camps from August 15 and are aimed to provide complete eye check up and services to the poor, he said.

Srinivas Yadav also suggested to take steps to focus on the areas wherein the poor reside and old age persons and physically disabled to move easily to the eye camps starting at 9 am and ending at 4 pm. Involve the services of NGOs and senior citizens by holding talks and take up massive door to door publicity campaign to create awareness on the same, the minister said. (NSS)
