Former South African C Begins 15-Months Jail Time Over Alleged “Political Conspiracy”

South Africa’s former President Jacob Zuma has handed himself to the police as he begins serving 15 months of jail time. He was handed jail time after he failed to attend a corruption inquiry.

Police Prepared For Arrest By Midnight

As per the latest reports, the police had already prepared to arrest Zuma, 79,  by midnight if he had not handed himself to the police. He was admitted to Estcourt Correctional Centre in his home province of  KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday.

The condemnation started an uncommon lawful dramatization in South Africa, which has never seen a previous president imprisoned. Zuma had at first wouldn’t hand himself in, yet in a short proclamation on Wednesday, the Jacob Zuma Foundation said he had “chose to consent”.

His daughter, Dudu Zuma-Sambudla, later tweeted that her dad was “on the way (to the prison) and he is as yet cheerful”.

Zuma Claims To Be The “Victim of Political Conspiracy”

Zuma was condemned on June 29 for resisting a guidance to give proof at an investigation into debasement during his nine years in power. He has affirmed just a single time at the investigation into what has gotten known as “state catch” – which means the redirecting of state resources.

Many business owners have been blamed for plotting with lawmakers to impact the dynamic interaction while he was in office. Yet, Zuma has over and again said that he is the “victim of political conspiracy”.
