France To Postpone Covid 19 Relaxations Ahead of Winter Season

In the latest update, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that they would be postponing the pre-decided easing of the anti-Covid 19 measures. This comes amidst the country undergoing the fifth wave of Covid 19.

French President Halts Easing Covid 19 Pandemic Ahead Of Winter Season

While addressing the nation on Tuesday, he said that they are not done with the pandemic yet. Macron said that all the barrier gestures that they must protect people from both pandemic and the contagious winter season.

He said that they relaxed for a bit but they must step up again. He further added that the controls of health pass will also be strengthened in certain areas like airports, ports and train stations.

Furthermore, people over 65 years old and the most vulnerable will have to get a booster dose of the Covid 19 vaccines to validate their health pass from December 15. The French head of state further reaffirmed that the role of health passes in France combat against Covid 19.

He stated that because of the health pass and the strategy implemented since last July, the nation was able to control the pandemic.

Macron Urges People To Get Booster Shots 

Talking about the vaccines, Macron said that since December 2020, France has administered more than 100 million doses in 10 months. And 51 million people in France are fully vaccinated.

He further urged people to get a booster dose within six months of getting the Covid 19 vaccine. The booster doses are already been administered for people 65 years old and above. For the people between the ages of 50 and 64, the booster shots will be launched from the beginning of December.

Macron further said that everybody have done what was necessary to protect themselves and the situation will get under control if everyone does their part. He urged people who have not taken the vaccines to take the dozes as well.
