Hyderabad: Health, medical and family welfare minister Eatala Rajender on Wednesday said that the state government would take up the responsibility of providing treatment to all kidney patients of Telangana, free of cost. He said this while replying to questions raised by members Narsi Reddy and S. Subash Reddy in the Legislative Council.
Rajender said that they were aware of the pain and problems faced by dialysis patients. He made it clear that they would take care of all the problems faced by kidney patients. The minister said that they had distributed 40 lakh spectacles under the ‘Kanti Velugu’ program. He said that their policy was to ensure that all kinds of surgeries were held in government hospitals while noting that such a move would reduce the expenditure being incurred by the poor people on their health. He said that they had set up 45 dialysis Centers across the state and added that each Center has 5 to 10 dialysis machines for the treatment of the patients.
He said that the state has around 10,000 dialysis patients and added that the state government was spending Rs.1.8 lakh on each dialysis patient while noting that they were ready to spend more money on them if required. He said that they would also set up additional dialysis Centers and Additional machines in the days to come
“The State Government will examine all possibilities to set up more dialysis centers across the State in addition to the existing 45 centers being operated in different areas offering quality and convenient service”, he said.
Minister said the State government has decided to launch “Telangana State Health Profile.” A pilot project was under progress at Chintamadaka and it will be extended to the entire Gajwel constituency. Based on the project outcome, it will be extended to the entire State, probably from this financial year, he added.
