Frontline workers after Vaaccination Sick, One Dead, Two serious

One frontline warrior dead after receiving vaccination shot Two hospitalized after receiving the same vaccination in Karnataka Cases reported in Chikaballapura town of Karnataka and were admitted in Jaydeva hospital.

On Friday, the mishap from vaccination drive was reported in Karnataka’s Chikaballapura town as a frontline warrior, who was vaccinated on February 10, had died on his way to a local hospital while 2 other recipients, which also included a woman healthcare worker are in serious health conditions some days after they were inoculated with the first shot.

A hospital official quoted that the frontline warrior who was aged 56 had received the vaccine dosage at Chikaballapura on February 10th, had died this afternoon when he was being transferred to the Jayadeva hospital in the main city as he had reportedly complained of chest pain.

The deceased was working in the state waterworks department in the Chikaballapura, was released from the hospital past Thursday after he had recovered from an adverse event following immunization (AEFI) symptoms which he reported from February 11.

Also reported in another AEFI case, an Anganwadi woman worker aged 45-year-old was vaccinated in Raichur in Karnataka’s northern region on January 20, had developed severe pain in her lower limbs a week later.

It was reported by the authorities that the healthcare worker was shifted to the state-operated Nimhans hospital in the tech hub of the nation on February 17th for treatment after she had developed fever, chill, and pain in her abdomen.

In yet another AEFI case, a 40-year-old frontline warrior reported similar symptoms, who worked in the state waterworks department and was inoculated with vaccine on February 12th, had reported muscle twitching in the right lower limb.

Chikaballapura is ironically the hometown of Karnataka’s Health Minister K. Sudhakar and is located about 60 km northeast of Bengaluru.

A 26-year-old woman was a swab collector, was vaccinated on February 17th, had reported giddiness, but had recovered after receiving treatment at the state-run ESI hospital and is now stable.

Of the total 6,32,711 recipients vaccinated in the state since January 16th, two were reported with severe AEFI symptoms, and 18 were reported with serious AEFI cases.
