Telangana Minister for Civil Supplies, Gangula Kamalakar stated today that the State government has taken up paddy procurement from farmers on a record level now.
He said that though the Centre was not Cooperating, paddy procurement is going on in the state as per the directions of the Chief Minister KCR. The Minister held a review meeting with officials on paddy procurement and custom milling.
The Minister, speaking on the occasion, stated that the target of paddy procurement was nearing completion. While the centre favoured paddy procurement of 68.65 lakh M Tonnes, already 65.20 lakh MTs was procured by January 3.He assured that all the available paddyTelangana will be purchased in the present season.

He said that though the Centre had created problems, 6868 procurement centres were opened in the state and paddy was procured. Of these centres, 4,808 we’re closed now as the procurement was completed. Paddy worth ₹.12, 761 crore was purchased from nearly 11.90 lakh farmers and already ₹.10, 394 crore was paid to nearly eight lakh farmers.
Civil supplies commissioner Anil Kumar, Deputy Commissioners Srikant Reddy, Rukmini, Assistant commissioners were among those who participated in the review meeting.
