GHMC Enhances Hyderabad’s Green Space with Nehru Park and Vacant Land Transformation

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is aggressively attempting to improve Hyderabad’s green space and give its citizens access to new recreational areas. Nehru Park at SRT Colony, Sanathnagar, has been developed as a part of this programme and offers a variety of amenities for people of all ages. The park has a tennis court, walking trails, a designated Yoga area, a seating area, and a uniquely constructed children’s play area with colourful carpet flooring and different play apparatus.

A metal sculpture resembling a bird’s nest and a water cascade at the park’s entrance both add to its aesthetic appeal. The building also has a community hall, which is being used as the GHMC ward office.Visitors have given the park favourable reviews for its abundant seating options, lush vegetation, and recreational amenities.

Officials from the GHMC stress the value of creating these urban “lung spaces” amidst the concrete to the locals. The GHMC seeks to create community leisure areas while promoting environmental protection by making use of unused space. An example of this strategy is the recent conversion of a vacant land in the Old MIG colony, Serilingampally, into a theme park.

The building of parks like Nehru Park and the transformation of vacant lots into recreational areas serve as evidence of the GHMC’s dedication to improving the city’s green infrastructure and giving citizens access to worthwhile spaces for leisure and relaxation
