GHMC plans awareness campaign on usage of garbage waste into manure: Dana Kishore

Hyderabad : Dana Kishore, DEO & GHMC Commissioner said a workshop was being planned to create awareness about the usage of garbage waste to convert the waste in to compost manure.  In the first week of the November where major companies who are dealing with green generate compost bins will be inviting for making them to create awareness about the usage of the garbage waste to the bulk garbage generators in the GHMC limits.  The Commissioner, along with the senior officials of the Health & Sanitation held a meeting with all the owners, representatives, owners of hotels, Restaurants, Malls, shopping establishments etc., where around more than 100 have attended the meeting. The management which produced more than 100 kgs of garbage waste comes under the bulk garbage generators. There are more than 250+ bulk garbage generators in the GHMC.

The GHMC has issued notices several times to the managements of owners, representatives, owners of hotels, Restaurants, Malls, shopping establishments etc., to make use of garbage waste to convert in to compost manure but inspite of the notices issued to them the results are not up to the mark keeping in view of the facts a meeting has been conveyed with them to explain them about the usage of garbage waste and to have a proper coordination among the officials to make the city garbage free said the Commissioner, GHMC. It has been ascertained that green garbage bins which will convert the garbage waste to compost will be costing around Rs. 20,000 plus to Rs. 3 lakhs etc., the companies who are dealing with these types of work are being invited to create awareness about the usage of garbage waste to bulk garbage generators and the similar workshops will be taken up in all the zones said the Commissioner.

The Commissioner stated that a Red Notice is being planned to issue to all the bulk garbage generators in the GHMC limits to strictly implement the above said project within 15 days of the notice failing which severe action and as well as cutting of water connection, imposing heavy penalties those who not follow the prescribed rules have to face the consequences.  The Commissioner said that the main aim of the projects not to give any type of problems to anybody but keeping in overall development of the city to make to that of a World Class this type of innovative programmes are being taken up for the best use of garbage waste which can help the citizen and households in many ways.
