GHMC sets up two construction debris disposal points

During a recent meeting, the GHMC Mayor, Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, announced that the standing committee members have given their approval to ten items. The Mayor has directed officials to promptly address the issues raised by the committee members. She also urged corporators to raise public awareness about the improper disposal of construction debris in unauthorized locations and encouraged them to participate in the distribution of clay Ganesh idols.

GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose expressed concern about the illegal dumping of construction and demolition debris on roads, footpaths, canals, and ponds in unauthorized areas. To combat this issue, two temporary disposal points have been designated for each zone, making it easier to transport debris to the construction and demolition (C&D) plant.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) plans to distribute 3.10 lakh clay idols, with an additional 90,000 distributed by the Pollution Control Board, totaling four lakh idols for Vinayaka Chavithi. Each ward is set to receive around 2,800 to 3,000 idols from their respective ward offices. The official launch of this initiative is scheduled for September 15 at the Hyderabad Collectorate.
