Ghulam Nabi Azad comments ridiculous: TRS

Hyderabad: TRS MP B Vinod Kumar today severely condemned AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad’s comments that the TRS had played no role in achieving statehood for Telangana.

Addressing the media here today, Vinod Kumar slammed Azad for making ridiculous comments. Azad’s remarks against the TRS and its supremo K Chandrashekhar Rao are meaningless and mischievous, he fumed.

It may be recalled here that Gulam Nabi Azad alleged in Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday that the TRS had no role in achieving the statehood and it was the Congress that conceded it. The Congress leaders were resorting to mud-slinging just to divert and misguide people of their misgivings, Vinod rebutted. The TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao, who strove for statehood had convinced 32 parties in Delhi at the national level and made the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre to concede statehood to Telangana.

Vinod asserted that then Congress government at the Centre did not give statehood to Telangana with love or affection but under unavoidable circumstances. He said the Congress leader perhaps forgot that the UPA Government had withdrawn its statement on the statehood. He also said with the Telugu Desam and the Congress from Andhra Pradesh stiffly opposing statehood, the Centre had to accord statehood to Telangana. Then in 2014 general elections, the Congress had a truck with the TRS to gain politically, he recalled.

At the behest of then chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, then AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi had suppressed the statehood movement that continued for 14 years with several protests, Million March, rail roko, Sagara Harama and others, he said. The Congress leaders in Telangana had failed even to talk against Rajasekhar Reddy and other top leaders for protecting their own interests. But the power crazy Cngress leaders, after formation of Telangana, continued to create hurdles to development despite efforts for welfare and progress by the TRS Government, he added.

Harish slams Azad for statehood rant

Intensifying his election campaigning, Irrigation minister T Harish Rao today vehemently criticized AICC General Secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad and others for their provocative comments that the TRS had no role in the achievement of Telangana State. With this, it proved that the Congress government at the Centre had accorded statehood for political gain and for seats and not for the affection on the people of the region, he pointed out.

The Congress leaders, who failed to recognize the just demand of Telangana people for decades had deliberately delayed the decision in favour Telangana, he alleged. But the unfazed TRS chief K Chandrashekhar Rao mobilized support of all political parties for statehood, he recalled. Azad and other Congress leaders have admitted that they accorded statehood for seats and power and not in recognition of the long pending demand of the people of the region, Harish pointed out.

Harish Rao said the Congress leaders have lost their mental balance due to loss of power and resorting to loose talk. While the TRS chief relentlessly waged a protracted struggle for 14 long years, the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre adopted delaying tactics by bowing to pressure of other political parties. Now, the Congress with no other go, forged an unethical alliance with its arch rival the Telugu Desam party which created stumbling blocks against the statehood for Telangana, he said.

Despite the Opposition parties with different ideology, forging such an unholy electoral alliance, they cannot take on the might of the TRS, Harish Rao asserted. The people would decide whether they want growth by voting to the TRS or suppression and corruption in the Congress regime in future, he said. The people are aware of conspiracies being hatched by the Congress leaders for moving courts will teach them a fitting lesson by defeating them in the upcoming polls, he hoped.
