Goa Reports Medical Oxygen Leak in Hospital; One Injured

As India continues to battle against the pandemic virus along with the shortage of medical supplies, avoidable incidents seem to have taken over. While the deaths due to shortage of medical oxygen supply continue to take over the headlines, Goa hospital reported medical oxygen leak from an oxygen tanker on Tuesday.

Oxygen Leak Video Goes Viral Over Social Media

As per the latest reports, the incident took place at the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) in Margao on Tuesday afternoon. This happened when the gas was being filled in the main storage tank of the hospital for proper medical oxygen supply in the hospital. However, the medical oxygen leaked from the tanker.

The police said that no casualties have happened, except one person who received minor injuries. The spokesperson from the Fire and Emergency Service department said that two fire engines reached the venue within 30-40 minutes of the leakage. Soon upon their arrival, the situation was in control. There was no fire.

The SGDH is one of the biggest state-run facilities in treating the Covid 19 patients. The gas leak incident caused panic in the area. Some people shared the video of the incident on social media. The situation was under control in a short time.

Three Workers Die After Gas Leak in Andhra Pradesh

The Goa gas leakage isn’t the only incident that has happened today. In another news, Andhra Pradesh witnessed a similar situation. Three workers died after inhaling the gas leaked in the Venkata Narayana Active Ingredients Private Limited. It is a chemical unit for medicines manufacturing in Nellore’s district.

The company is based in the Chandrapadia village and the decreased have been identified as P Srinu, Tirupataiah and one more person whose name has been revealed yet. Another person named SK Sharif also was caught in the gas leak and is currently in a critical condition.
