The state government has performed a total of 6679098 Covid tests in the state from May 29 of the last month. This was revealed by the director of the Directorate of public health Dr. Srinivasa Rao in his affidavit before the high court of the state.
He also told the HC that the number of in-patients was also coming Down in the state. He said that 36.50 beds in government hospitals and 16.35 beds in private hospitals were occupied in the state. He also told the HC that the state government was ready to face the third wave of the virus and added that they had transformed 10366 beds into oxygen facility-equipped beds in the government hospitals of the state.
He said that steps were afoot to transform another 15000 beds from the government hospitals into oxygen facility-equipped beds. The director also said that they had permitted the establishment of 132 oxygen production plants in the state.

He also said that they had kept ready 4000 beds for the treatment of Covid virus-affected children and added that another 1000 beds were being readied for the children at city-based Nilofer children’s hospital. Talking about the recruitment of the health staff Rao said that they were preparing proposals to increase the number of staff and their training.
On the other hand, the Secretary of the medical and health department of the state SAM Rizvi sought time from the HC to fix the process of Covid and black fungus treatment at the private hospitals of the state and urged the court to grant four weeks time to them.
