Govt to hold former PM PV Narsimha Rao’s centenary birthday celebrations in grand manner

Hyderabad: The State Government has decided to hold the Centenary birthday celebrations of former Prime Minister of the country and veteran Congress party leader PV Narasimha Rao in a grand manner.

The Chief Minister of the state K Chandrashekhar Rao today announced that centenary birthday celebrations of PV would be held in a befitting way for one year beginning from June 28 of this month, which is PV’s Birthday. KCR said that PV rendered yeoman service as the Prime Minister, Freedom Fighter, Educationist, and Literary figure. He said that a man with such extraordinary qualities hailed from Telangana and added that it was a moment of pride for the State. To recollect, recall the great services rendered by PV in various fields, it is decided to celebrate his centenary celebrations on a grand scale, the CM said.

KCR also announced the formation of a committee under the leadership of the party MP Dr K Keshav Rao. The Government’s Chief Advisor  Rajiv Sharma, PV’s son PV Prabhakar Rao, daughter Vani Devi, Ministers from Karimnagar Etela Rajender, KT Rama Rao, the Official Language Commission Chairman Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao, Central Sahitya Academy awardee and noted writer “Ampasayya” Naveen will be the members in the Committee.  The CM asked Dr Keshav Rao to include 6 to 7 members more in the Committee.

The first meeting of the Committee will be held at Dr Keshav Rao’s house on Thursday at 2.30 PM. The CM asked the Committee to get in touch with those who had interaction with PV, people who have an affinity with him, his family members, his well-wishers and his fans and discuss to finalise the centenary celebrations plan with them.
