Guidelines to buy 2.13 lakh animals: Talasani

Hyderabad:Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav today said guidelines are being formulated as an exercise is complete to purchase 2.13 lakh animals, including buffalos and cows to be distributed among the members of milk societies of four dairies.

The selected farmers will be given free hand to purchase the quality animals at any place or state and offer them on subsidy, he said. The officials have been involved in working out a perfect action plan giving no chance to corruption or irregularities in this regard, the minister said. In a short time, guidelines will be sent to the farmers and officials to buy the animals for the purpose, he said.

“We have completed a related exercise of selecting the beneficiaries and finding it out the locations or states that the animals can be purchased from he informed. The Officials concerned, state Sheep development Federation MD Lakshma Reddy and chairmen of four dairies are part of the program to be starting next month.

As per vision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao the scheme will be launched to bring back lights in the lives of the people of rural pockets to develop in a phased manner he said. The members of four dairies of Mother Dairy, Vijaya Dairy, Mulkanur Dairy and Nalgonda Dairy will be getting the animals for milk production and to flourish gradually, Srinivas said. The plan is to buy the animals at any places and the officials already identified potential places like Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in this regard. As per the scheme it costs about Rs 80000 for each animal and Rs 5000 will be given towards transportation charges. It was decided to provide 75 per cent subsidy to members of SC and ST categories and 50 per cent subsidy to others while giving away the animals. (NSS)
